About Us
The Automobile Storage Co is run by husband and wife team Dr Geraint and Charlotte Owen, from their home in rural Herefordshire. Established in 2005, the company operated for some 15 years with a capacity of about 150 cars. Over the years hundreds of different cars have been stored – although 5 of the first 25 cars to arrive are still here!
Dr Geraint Owen
Geraint grew up in a world of old cars. His father dug up the land speed record car BABS in Pendine, South Wales when Geraint was 10 months old. Geraint restored a 1928 3-wheeler Morgan when he was 16 (winning concours awards from the Morgan Three Wheeler Club) before going off to University where he used a 20 year old MGBGT as his everyday car.

He worked for many years as a Senior Lecturer in Automotive Engineering at the University of Bath (where he still teaches one day a week). He is a regular competitor in a variety of historic sports and Grand Prix cars as well as looking after BABS.
Charlotte Owen
Charlotte also grew up in a world of old cars. Her father ran the Mouldsworth Motor Museum for many years before retiring in 2015. Summer work at the museum was good training in her formative years.
Starting out in her father’s cars at Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) events, she has raced a number of cars. She hung up her helmet after racing a 1928 Grand Prix Bugatti at Goodwood in 2014 but still actively enjoys our own vintage cars.
Our Philosophy
As car enthusiasts, we understand the sort of care you expect for your pride and joy. We believe that we offer the lowest priced dehumidified storage in the UK. There are two of us who run the business – it is us you speak to, us you meet when you drop the car off, and only us that will drive the car when it is moved.
Our prices are fixed. Once your car is here the price you pay doesn’t change, even if our advertised rates do.
While we are keen to get new customers, we endeavour to provide honest advice – even if that means suggesting you go elsewhere. There are several reasons to bring your car to us. Price is clearly one, as is our facilities, experience and flexibility. Furthermore, the cars are fully insured, which isn’t always the case at other storage companies.
Storage in Herefordshire may not seem the most logical choice for those in the South East. We specialise in long term storage, bringing a car west may represent a significant saving. A quick search of the web shows that prices in the South East are at least £25/week + VAT (that’s an extra £700 per year).
